Description:

A wiki is a website anyone can edit.

This particular wiki service does not have ad-free education wikis.  With a free account you get 100 mb of storage.

Wetpaint is a unique wiki site that gives the user a lot of power.  It is really more like a DIY social networking site where users can create profiles and threaded discussions can take place.  Visually, Wetpaint is extremely pleasing.

Project Ideas:

  1. Have students work together to create a website about whatever topic they are studying.
  2. Have students create a master set of notes to be used for a final exam or AP exam.
  3. Have students partner with students from a distant school and use a wiki to collaborate.
  4. Students can use wikis to create "choose your own adventure" stories and games.

Other Educational Uses:

  1. Collaborate with staff on projects (e.x.:  curriculum development, crafting policy, etc.)
  2. Create a shared calendar.
  3. Build your own content management system.
  4. Use instead of handouts at conferences.
  5. Organize conferences and events.
  6. Manage and organize content and resources for a class or interest group.
